Child Day Care Teacher

Child Day Care Teacher

As a Day Care  Teacher you will be responsible to carry out the daily programming for the children enrolled in the Child Day Care Center.  You will work with a group of children under the supervision of a Child Day Care Teacher.

You can also expect to:

  • Provide care and protection for assigned children
  • Maintain a physical environment conducive to children’s growth and development, and arrange to promote optimal program functioning
  • Consider and provide for the needs of the individual child in relationship to his/her cultural and socioeconomic background, emotional or physical handicaps, and individual style and pace of learning
  • Help children learn to adapt to and cope with real life situations; to develop appropriate habits in such activities as eating, dressing, napping, and personal hygiene.  Help children learn appropriate conflict-resolution and social interactive skills
  • Work with and refer children with unmet special needs to the Child Day Care Director, as well as families with problems that affect the child in the Day Care Center
  • Make daily observations of the health of children, reporting conditions which require attention; administers first aid treatment and any medication authorized in writing by parent
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other career development and professional activities
  • Assure that equipment and materials are accessible, appropriate, safe, and in good condition 
  • Keep all areas of the Day Care Center clean and sanitary to maintain infection control and orderly, pleasant surroundings
  • Plan, organize, and implement children’s learning activities for each child’s developmental level with a thorough understanding of Franciscan Villa’s philosophy, policies and procedures

CNA, Skilled Nursing

Certified Nursing Assistant-Skilled Nursing

As a CNA in our Skilled Nursing department you will provide direct and indirect care to residents. You will assists in activities of daily living (ADLs) to meet each resident’s needs and provide resident care as assigned.

You can also expect to:

  • Help prevent spread of infection by consistent hand washing, standard precautions and identified isolation procedures in accord with policy and procedure
  • Inform residents of procedure and outcome prior to providing care services
  • Report to staff nurse any unusual behavior or change in resident's condition
  • Monitor and document temperatures, appetite, intake and output as assigned. Weigh residents and record outcomes (Hoyer scale, free-standing, stand or sit scale) on proper forms
  • Use transfer equipment for both resident safety and that of your own: Sit-to-Stand lifts, Mechanical Lifts, and in-bed transfer hardware, gait belts, and bath lifts
  • Watch resident for changes in skin condition, injuries, appetite, emotional needs and other aspects. Report changes to the nurse or supervisor. Take vital signs as directed and record them
  • Use time effectively to accomplish assigned cares for a group of residents
  • Review daily report on assigned residents for their condition and required cares. Use care plan and Resident Information Sheets to maintain current information on resident
  • Perform utility work for residents' comfort and facility neatness and cleanliness:
    • Change bed linens
    • Keep closets, dressers, bedside cabinets
    • Clean and properly maintain sanitation and tub rooms
    • Separate soiled clothing, linens, and disposables
  • Meet residents’ personal needs at least every two hours in the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Toileting
    • Repositioning
    • Safety Intervention Devices
  • Provide direct resident care and assistance in ADLs by:
    • Feeding and assistance with eating
    • Bathing and weighing
    • Dressing
    • Oral hygiene
    • Nail, hair, skin care and shaving
    • Toileting
    • Restorative Nursing: ROM, ambulation, positioning, splint application

Cook Assistant

As an Assistant Cook you will perform skilled cooking duties that and are responsible for preparing foods for resident needs, and special events.

You can also expect to:

  • Prepare food following food safety guidelines, diet restrictions and  standardized recipes
  • Work off prep sheets and occasionally create prep lists to ensure all menu items are prepared
  • Plan cooking schedules so that foods are ready at specified times and are tasty and presentable
  • Procures food products from refrigerators, freezers, or other storage areas
  • Assist Cook with meal service and serve food according to portion control guides and diet restrictions
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and able to use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blenders, mixers, grinder, and slicer to make sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, and desserts

Licensed Social Worker

Working with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Social Worker assesses and promotes the social and emotional health and well-being of residents and their families. The Social Worker provides service to adults and older adults with the goal of affirming the resident’s integrity, growth, and control over the qualities of their life.

  • Part-time position-20 hours per week.
  •  Demonstrates knowledge of skills necessary to identify specific resident needs and provide appropriate services.
         a. Completes the social service portion of the MDS within fourteen days of admission.
         b. Documents the social care component of the comprehensive care plan for each resident as identified by the interdisciplinary team.
         c. Notifies resident families of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, answering question and gathering information for them as needed.
  • Participates in development of interdisciplinary plan of care.
         a. Meets with resident and/or family to gain information and insight to write social history and discharge plans.
         b. Participates in care conference as appropriate along with others on interdisciplinary team.
         c. Notifies resident/family of Medicare/Medicaid stipulations for discharge or continued stay.
  • Actively develops one-on-one relationships with residents and families as needed to be able to meet individual needs.
         a. Makes determinations regarding strengths, weaknesses, and needs based on psychosocial assessments.
         b. Counsels residents and families in dealing with feelings about death and dying and other emotional, mental, environmental, or physical limitations.

         d. Documents all resident/family interactions that would help other disciplines gain increased understanding of resident concerns/needs as appropriate.
         e. Is responsible for acting as a liaison with social, health, and community agencies for appropriate referrals.
         f. Acts as an advocate for each resident and their rights, empowering them to be as independent as possible.
  • Provides education and resources, as well as support to residents, families, and staff.
         a. Acts as an information referral base for Medicare/Medicaid and insurance questions.
         b. Interacts effectively with disciplinary team.
         c. Actively takes a leadership role in teaching resident rights, abuse, and confidentiality to new employees at facility orientation and education days.

As a Registered Nurse in Skilled Nursing you will perform resident care duties and participate in nursing care assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation. You will direct all nursing care and provide resident care as assigned.

  • Assist with physician visits and recommend changes in treatment based upon resident condition.
  • Administer both medications and treatments according to physician and nursing orders and infection control standards, documenting them at time of delivery.
