Cook prepares and processes food for the residents, staff and guests in compliance with all regulations. 

Essential Job Specific Duties/Responsibilities

 

  1. Knowledgeable of recipe food prep procedures and production sheet and able to guide other cooks in preparation procedures.
    1. Can follow recipes, using correct measurements of ingredients..
    2. Checks the production sheets daily for food counts on puree, ground, renal, etc.
    3. Able to distinguish the different scoop sizes.
    4. Reads spreadsheets daily for scoop guidelines to use at each meal.
    5. Uses production sheet to send correct amount of food to Side 1 and Side 2

 

  1. Demonstrates ability to prepare proper menu and meal.       Advises other cooks in proper set up procedures.
    1. Insures correct ingredients or items are available for meal plan.
    2. Demonstrates correct preparation procedures and monitors prep work of other cooks.
    3. Reports problems in meal prep to the Chef/Supervisor.
    4. Assists cooks when needed.
    5. Takes temperatures before, during and after each meal and records it on temperature sheets.

 

  1. Competent in Serve Safe guidelines. Monitors and instructs other cooks in Serve Safe Guidelines.
    1. Calibrates thermometer before each meal.
    2. Takes food temperatures and logs them before, during and after each meal.
    3. Uses proper cool down of food before putting it away.
    4. Prevents cross contamination by preparing meats in one area and vesetabl3es in another.
    5. Makes sure that food is always at the minimum internal cooking temperature.

 

  1. Proficient in proper shipping of food procedures.       Oversees other cooks, to ensure they are also following correct shipping procedures.
    1. Insures that food is placed in proper containers (4” pans, 6” pans, etc.)
    2. Covers hot food with saran wrap and aluminum foil.
    3. Labels each container with food type and which side it is going to.
    4. Before packing, makes sure that cambro boxes are clean and sanitized.
    5. Takes food temperatures before sending it to the various units or insures cooks record accurate temperature information.

 

  1. Can operate all stoves, overs, slicers, etc. and instructs other cooks in proper operating procedures.
    1. Knows how to turn on and set temperatures on the oven, steamer and stove.
    2. Is able to operate the slicer stylizing safety guidelines and proper cleaning after use.
    3. Can operate the deep fryer and properly cleans after use.

 

In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the Cook shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission statement and core values (reverence, integrity, compassion, excellence) of CHI Living Communities and will be evaluated on such basis. Furthermore, every employee must abide by all campus, departmental, and safety policies, rules, and regulations.

Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. •Directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility, written policies, and procedures established by this facility. •Assisting physicians in reviewing resident treatment regime. Ensuring physician orders are appropriately carried out according to policies and procedures governing the facility. •Ordering prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established policies. Ensuring that narcotics are counted each shift and are accurate. •Demonstrating the ability to chart on all residents receiving acute or skilled care.

  • Using Point Click Care provide thorough documentation of residents’ status on a shift-to-shift basis in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care. •Making written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of your shift as required. (e.g., 24-hour report sheets) •Requisitioning and arranging for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician, and in accordance with our established procedures. •Administering professional services, such as catheterization, tube feedings, and suction. Applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags.

State Tested Nursing Assistant - STNA

Department: Skilled Nursing Certified Nurse Assistant 

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to the following functions:

  • Promotes the values and practices of Person-Centered Care throughout daily life in the household.
  • Encourages and assists all residents in achieving spiritual well-being and an optimum quality of life.
  •  Performs all essential responsibilities of a STNA
  • Attends to all resident personal care needs, including but not limited to,grooming, hygiene, dining and nutrition, mobility, toileting, psychosocial and safety needs. Supports residents in self-care and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs. Responds to residents’ requests, including call lights, in a timely manner.
  • Regularly checks and provides appropriate physical care for all residents; observes all typical /normal needs of residents as well as any unusual changes.
  • Reports immediately any changes in physical or mental functioning or special needs to charge nurse.
  • Reports verbal/non-verbal complaints of pain to charge nurse immediately
  • Complies with all computerized medical records documentation and implementation, including updating daily care and resident-related information as required by federal and state regulations.
  • Provides ROM exercises as directed.
  • Assists and encourages residents to participate in activities both inside and outside the household.
  • Provides light housekeeping, activities, and dietary duties as necessary.
