GENERAL SUMMARY :

Assists residents with activities of daily living and other non-professional aspects of nursing ensuring quality care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Administers resident care duties under the direction of a licensed nurse (i.e. maintenance of chart, recording vital signs, etc.).
  • Works under direct supervision using BDRC policies and nursing standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e. drainage devices, scales, lifts, etc.).
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information.
  • Reports observations to licensed personnel.
  • Maintains resident care supplies, equipment, and environment.
  • Assists with the provision of the care to residents (within qualifications) and participate in social and activity programs in order to help meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of the residents to promote a happy, safe, and fulfilling environment.

Director of Dietary Services

Job Summary

The Director of Dietary is responsible for ensuring the food service and dining for residents and customers remains compliant with state and federal regulations. The Director of Dietary will perform overall department supervision as required and will directly supervise the Cooks, Culinary Support staff, and Dining Attendants. This position requires overseeing the cooking of all foods, including special meals for events and catering.

Essential Job Specific Duties/Responsibilitie:

  • Ensures smooth operation of the Dietary Department.
  • Coordinates activities of the department to ensure high quality.
  • Confers with the Dietitian regarding patient food services and therapeutic diets.
  • Assists in menu planning.
  • Purchases needed small equipment, supplies, and food.
  • Inventories store room and keeps records of food costs.
  • Supervises food preparation, tray service, and dining room service.
  • Assesses resident trays and plates.
  • Makes substitutions in diabetic diets.
  • Makes records on meal census inventories.
  • Makes daily resident visits and interviews all new residents.
  • Maintains residents’ diet histories and diet orders.
  • Counsels residents and families in the areas of therapeutic diets.
  • Trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines all department staff.
  • Hires and terminates all department staff.
  • Prepares work schedules for employees and makes assignment of duties.
  • Instructs employees in use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Attends department leadership, patient care, infection control, and safety committee meetings.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned residents. Provides professional nursing care to these residents incorporating the nursing process, the environment, technical equipment, and health care staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administers nursing care to residents under the direction of the DON, includes assessing residents, implementing resident’s plan of care and evaluating the resident’s response to care in coordination with the physician. 
  • Collaborates with other personnel regarding assigned resident’s plan of care.
  • Performs documentation in the nursing unit and in the resident record accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.
  • Seeks to increase knowledge base and skill level and assertively seeks guidance in areas of question.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations, following established policies and standards.
  • Communicates effectively with resident/family.
  • Communicates all pertinent information concerning resident to appropriate health professional.
  • Is knowledgeable in delegation of tasks to Certified Nursing Assistants and nursing technicians with residents.
  • Assists with the provision of the care to residents (within qualifications) and participate in social and activity programs in order to help meet the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of the residents to promote a happy, safe, and fulfilling environment.
