November is National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. It is estimated that there are 5.7 million individuals living in the US with the diagnosis. After all, Alzheimer’s has directly affected approximately 1 in every 2 families and the others must have certainly noted its prominent coverage in the news recently.
- Currently in Wisconsin, it is estimated that 115,000 individuals have a dementia diagnosis.
- By 2040, that number is expected to increase to 242,000 individuals with dementia.
- Between 2015 and 2040, the population ages 65 and older will grow by 640,000 an increase of 72%. This expected growth rate is also reflected in the projected increases in dementia prevalence.
