Namasté Alzheimer Center, one of the first centers dedicated in the U.S. exclusively to caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and related dementia illnesses, announced it earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Memory Care Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient and resident care.

Namasté Alzheimer Center underwent a rigorous on-site survey.  During the review, Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated compliance with nursing care center standards related to several areas, including assistance with activities of daily living, coordination of care, and staff education and training.  Surveyors also conducted on-site observations and interviews with leaders and staff of the organization.

“Joint Commission certification provides nursing homes with a framework for the processes needed to improve the care residents receive,” said Gina Zimmerman, MS, Executive Director, Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission.  “We commend Namasté Alzheimer Center for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization.”

“Namasté is pleased to receive Memory Care Certification from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” added Ashley Fellows, Administrator for Namasté Alzheimer Center. “Our staff across the organization continues to work together to develop and implement approaches and strategies that have the potential to improve care for our residents with dementia-related illnesses.”

Established in 1966, The Joint Commission’s Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program accredits more than 1,000 organizations that offer nursing home and other long-term care services. The Joint Commission launched in 2014 the Memory Care Certification award to recognize nursing homes that demonstrate leading practices in dementia care through advanced staff training, and specialized care and service programming. Certification is awarded for a three-year period.

Namasté Alzheimer Center, a faith-based senior living community for almost 30 years, was one of the first U.S. dedicated centers exclusively to caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related illnesses.  Namasté Alzheimer Center nurtures those with dementia-related needs with a holistic and person-centered approach to care that focuses on who each individual is and the value each person holds.  In addition, to a compassionate and well-trained staff dedicated to dementia-related illnesses, Namasté Alzheimer Center is committed to creating an environment where home is truly here for all who enter.
